Instructions

Position Summary:
Responsible for purchasing manufactured items, resell items,  as well as raw goods needed for production.  This position also includes purchasing of non-manufacturing products and services as required. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• View drawings to determine the items needed to be purchased per job.
• Maintain the purchasing policy and ensure all purchases adhere to it.
• Select the suppliers and maintain the legal interaction with them.
• Manage any SLA’s (Service Level Agreements) and Master Agreements between suppliers and the company.
• Liaison with other departments, as needed to support manufacturing. 
• Review costs to ensure alignment with project budget. 
• Create purchase orders per requirements in order to meet customer and production needs.
• Review inventories and place orders as required.
• Interact with the suppliers as needed. 
• Review deliveries against the orders.
• Track and forecast inventory levels to ensure availability.
• Track and update systems with vendor acknowledgment dates, correct pricing, and base pricing as needed. 
• Timely communication of price adjustments to the affected department. 
• Negotiate prices with vendors when possible.
• Send out RFQ “request for quotes” as required. 
• File freight claims when goods are damaged or missing.
• Manage any procurement activities including RFP’s (Request For Proposals)
• Match invoices, packing lists, and purchase orders to approve before submitting to accounting. 
• Receive in all direct shipments to close out the PO. 
• Inform accounting department when orders are closed and ready to be invoiced.
• View drawings to determine items needed purchased per job.

Requirements

• Computer software knowledge including Microsoft office products
• Prior experience working within an MRP system, AS400 experience is a plus
• Must be able to multi-task. 
• Excellent communication skills (phone, written, verbal)
• Strong analytical, inter-personal skills
• Demonstrated success in teamwork, change management and continuous improvement
• Strong commitment to excellence in customer service
• Able to work under pressure and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Other duties as assigned

Experience

• Training or experience reading blueprints.
• Prior purchasing experience required.
• Experience using an AS400 system a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Education

• High School Diploma or GED
